yall we were supposed to have clayton doing womens finals we were supposed to have his reaction to the brazil v thailand and brazil v japan matches i cant believe his ass was in poland girlie coulnt make a stop over in bangkok just to catch the semis or something?!??!

this is a nightmare for me personally like i just know clayton would have lost his fucking mind at the japan v brazil match... another L for me im furious. and clayton and dave make good co-anouncers this is so sad

clayton taking the time to scream about the fact they get to interview coaches and how cool it is volleyball as a sport has access to the players and coaches opinions on the matches

ranting about niche things in my own tags so i can come back to them at a later point and see if my opinions have changed (i was in a crowded area for longer than i wanted to today and need to get over my hater energy)

and if i say bokuto becomes an anouncer post retirement... i think he'd be like vball world tv's clayton but more energetic and also having a bit more professional insight

just the type of anouncer where everything that happens is the most exciting possibility in that scenario (im think the time the scoreboard malfunctioned and clayton was like "i guess now we have time to talk about how amazing this technology is" or when there was an extended pause cause there was something wrong with the ref's reference tablet and he went off on how cool it was they had the ability to interview players and coaches and get even more insight into the match)

hes always so excited when he gets to do post set 2 and post game interviews that he gets bummed he has a 4 question limit

sometimes he gets so caught up in an amazing rally that he takes a break from play by play commentary to just scream

hes always bringing up his old teammates and gets so swept up in catching up with players/coaching staff/ other anouncers he played with/against that he has to be reminded theyre there to talk about the match at hand

idk just having thoughts about my enthusaistic boy....

shoutout to this new vball world tv anouncer

1. i like how her experiance as a libero leads her to have very interesting comments on the hitters and what their form means for where they'll hit and why

2. finally an anouncer who knows how to give accurate comentary without bringing an overbearing negative vibe. like she knows how to explain whats happening while still keeping it fun and positive

3. she is also a wipawee stan and as someone whose said 2024 will be her year since last vnl its nice to hear someone else speak nicely on my wife <3

thoughts on the usa womens volleyball team olympic roster

setters:

carlini and poulter: micha hancock fans we lost 😞 but she'll be there as the an alternate!!!! i really wish they played her more cause i feel like rallies are more fun but carlini and poulter isn't at all shocking like we knew this was coming theyre solid in fact im glad poulter is back and better from her injury i missed her last year

outsides:

plummer and skinner: not that surprised since they've been big hitters the last two vnls (skinner especially has been solid since her debut last year) and they were getting played a lot last week, skinner i felt was gonna make the cut just based on her being subbed in so many times though i honestly thought they'd go with franti instead of plummer since franti has been a consistant part of the team for longer.

larson and cook: no surprises here obvs im happy jordan larson is still bringing brought at 37 like go girlie go, i just know the vball world anouncers are kicking their feetsies at this. cook they've clearly been resting (same as last vnl) but shes a solid player for them

opposites:

thompson: shes a solid hitter, which i can respect. hoping she connects more with poulter cause i feel like they havnt matched yet but i know they can

drews: we all knew lol. ive been missing her presence, she makes such a difference imo and i feel like the usa would have had way more points and wins with her. i really love her one of my fav opposites lowkey i feel like shes underrated

middles:

washington and ogbogu: ofc like they were there last time when usa won gold and theyre both so good. i was so happy washignton was a starter towards the end of week two 1. she makes a difference in terms of playing but 2. SHE IS THE MOOD MAKER like even when shes on the bench the whole team got a diff vibe (im like pretty sure she started the whole 'screaming yee-haw' bit lol)

rettke: not surprised in a bad way just i had no clue which of the younger middles theyd be bringing. was kinda hoping for my girl asia o'neil but rettke is good too and her angles are crazy like 6'8 is TALLLLLLL excitedly to see how she plays

liberos:

wong-orantes: i mean who else could do what she does? no one. love her and i wonder if she'll still be captain. idk if its just because theyre not flashy but usa isnt a receiving team to me, not that theyre bad at receiving just that its not like watching japan or even italy when scilla is playing back row OR wong orantes is just that good that everyone looks less impressive (cause she is such a great libero)

helppp im kinda loving shelby (new? [at least not the usual for womens vnl] volleyball world anouncer) she be teasing the fuck out of nick and bringing some fun and chaos in the anouncer booth im crying. i support her in her antics. (like the "whose gonna tell the coach the camera never lies' "you are, i support you!" exchange had me giggling)

also i need vball world to allow shelby and my man clayton to cover all the thailand / dominican republic / japan cames AND THEM ALONE they are the only ones who know how to speak on my ults with whimsy and not be weird about them not being european (im looking at you **** and ***)
